Remote SSH

Configured remote SSH thru Tailscale; May 7, 2025

I'm using this post to test editing this site remotely from my main PC using Tailscale SSH. If you're reading this, it works, and it only took a few minutes to set up.

I can also access it from my laptop, which is ideal for remote connection.

Changed website appearance again. I'm certainly honing in on something nice.

The Rubbish Bin

Website creation; May 5, 2025

Some context:

I bought the domain rubbishbin.org on January 1st, 2023. I hosted a website for about a month, then it went down for some reason, and I was too lazy to put it back up. Instead of using the old website, I'm making this new one so I can become familiar with HTML again. I also want to learn more about server hosting.

I don't remember why I chose the name, besides it sounding funny.

Server setup:

I have an old ASUS Chromebox, specifically a cn60, that I used for middle school around 2018. Today, I upgraded its stock 2 GB of RAM to 8 GB. It has a 16 GB SSD, which I want to upgrade to a 64 GB SSD but I'll do that another time.

I replaced ChromeOS with Lubuntu following the instructions for replacing ChromeOS via full ROM firmware at mrchromebox.tech. This was fun to do, and I didn't have any issues.

Then I made it run through Nginx.

Then I port forwarded it.
